The Sun is a celestial body, a middle-aged star in the center of our solar system which is currently in the “main sequence” phase, where it fuses hydrogen into helium in its core. It has been shining for about 4.6 billion years and will continue doing so for several billion more years until it runs out of hydrogen fuel and undergoes changes that will eventually lead to its transformation into a red giant and then a white dwarf.

The Sun emits an enormous amount of energy in the form of light and heat. This energy is what powers the Earth’s climate and drives all life processes on our planet. The Sun’s energy output is about approx 386 billion megawatts. The sun light takes approximately 8 minutes and 20 seconds for the Sun’s light to reach Earth. We are in contact with few segments of the electromagnetic radiations of sun light.
The Sun is the prime source of energy on planet Earth not only because it is a massive, incredibly hot, and continuously fusing ball of hydrogen and helium in the center of our solar system but it is also responsible for the existence of almost all natural energy resources available on Earth. Before going little deep inside this, we must know about the energy sources.

Basically we are concern about the sources through which we could generate electricity or produce energy to run any process or system commercially and or domestically
Non-Renewable Energy Sources: Fossil fuel, Nuclear fuel.
Renewable Energy Sources: Solar, Wind, Biomass/Biogas, Bio fuel, Hydrogen fuel, Geothermal, Tidal, Wave.
Sun is the ultimate source of all the organic matter on earth because of the utilization of sun light by plants through Photosynthesis. When the remains of dead plants and animals uried in the earth crust and fossilized into a hydrocarbon-containing material such as coal, oil, and natural gas are called as fossil fuel.

Presently we are generating approximately over 900 GW of electricity globally through direct sunlight i.e. through solar cell (photo voltaic cells). Further, it accounted for 3.6% of the world’s energy generation. Sun is also responsible for renewable and non renewable energy resources on earth like fossil fuel, wind energy, Hydel Power, Tidal Energy and Biomass Energy.
The heat given by the sunlight and trapped in between the earth and atmosphere is the main reason behind the formation of Winds. The high temperature expands the atmospheric gases and allows them to leave from its place leaving behind an empty space which is occupied by the comparatively cold gases present in surroundings generating a flow of air known as wind. These winds are to be used to generate electricity through turbine of wind mills.

Tidal energy is a renewable form of energy that harnesses the gravitational interactions between the Earth, Moon, and Sun to generate electricity. It relies on the predictable rise and fall of ocean tides, which occur twice daily. Tidal power systems typically consist of underwater turbines or generators strategically placed in tidal currents. As the tide flows in and out, these turbines capture the kinetic energy of the moving water and convert it into electrical power. Tidal energy is considered environmentally friendly because it produces no greenhouse gas emissions and has a predictable, consistent energy source
However, it requires suitable coastal locations and faces challenges related to infrastructure and environmental impact mitigation.
In summary, the Sun is the prime source of energy on Earth because it provides the radiant energy necessary for life, sustains our climate and weather, and offers the potential for clean and renewable energy generation through technologies like solar power. Its continuous and stable output of energy has been fundamental to the development and maintenance of life on our planet. Why SUN is the prime source of all energy resources on planet Earth?
